About this image.

NGC 5128, in the constellation of Centaurus, is a mere 13 million light years distant and spans 60,000 light years. This elliptical galaxy is a binocular object from a dark site.

Evidence indicates that Centarus A is likely the result of the collision of two normal galaxies.
